The appendix is implanted at the base of the caecum (base of the right part of the colon or large intestine). When the lumen of the appendix is obstructed with intestinal debris a localised infection can occur: appendicitis (see photo). A surgical intervention is absolutely necessary.
The procedure necessitates 3 trocar holes (see picture). Discharge of the patient can be from 24 to 48 hours after surgery.
